"Adonia" & "Europa 2" depart from Southampton - 25/06/2014

Wednesday 25th June 2014 saw the return of a cruise ship that on its previous visit had been brand-new not yet entered passenger service. The ship in question was Hapag-Lloyd's "Europa 2" having visited in May 2013 and done a short overnight voyage out into the English Channel and back for VIPs. After which she headed off to Hamburg where she was named and entered service, so her return visit on June 25th 2014 was her first with paying passengers. Also in port was P&O Cruises "Adonia" having returned from her British Isles cruise which had begun on Friday 13th June. She was the first of the two to depart from the 'Mayflower' Terminal at 16:13 heading off on a 16-night cruise to the Baltic with the first Port of Call being Kiel via the Kiel Canal. Her departure was preceded by the RFA "Anvil Point" which departed from Marchwood Military Base at 16:07 heading for Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands. Later in the evening, the container ship "NYK Helios" arrived into Southampton from assisted by three Svitzer Tugs. Finally, "Europa 2" got underway from the 'Ocean' Terminal at 19:51 before continuing on her 12-night cruise from Hamburg to Barcelona with the next Port of Call being La Corunna.
