Here's a gorgeous look at the American Harmony cruise ship (from American Cruise Lines) sailing up the Columbia River in southeastern Washington state. She was on her way to the city of Richland, where she would dock for a few hours so that her passengers could take tours of the area. I'm a licensed commercial drone pilot (FAA part 107) and followed the ship with my drone as she approached the first of several bridges in the Tri Cities of Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco. The first bridge she went under was a BNSF railroad bridge. This bridge is normally too low for a large ship like this to go under... but there's a section of the bridge that was raised so that the cruise ship could get through. After passing under the railroad bridge, the ship then went on to the most beautiful bridge on the entire Columbia River: the Cable Bridge that serves automobile traffic between Kennewick and Pasco. Officially known as the Ed Hendler Bridge (he was the mayor of Pasco that worked hard to get the bridge built) this bridge was WAY ahead of its time when it was built in 1978... the first major cable-stayed bridge to be built in the United States (and second-longest of its kind in the world at the time). The music in the background of this video is a tune called "Reconciliation" and was performed by Asher Fulero. #tricitieswa #tricities #americancruiselines
