Creator's Key Takeaways
We were so excited. in the way everything unfolded honestly left left us with more questions than answers.
They had moved us into a sleeper class. Which is very odd. I remember thinking, wait a second, how does that even happen?
They gave us this whole different story that it was actually um the Via Railway, is what it's called, right? Is that it? That's the actual train itself, the the train company, Via.
I do we do not recommend Vacations by Rail. If you do do this trip do it directly through Via Rail cuz in the future that's what we'll be doing.

We booked what was supposed to be one of the most incredible travel experiences in Canada — VIA Rail’s famous “The Canadian” luxury train journey from Toronto to Vancouver. Over a year ago we reserved Prestige Class, the most luxurious way to travel across Canada by train. Prestige Class includes a private luxury cabin, full double bed, private bathroom with shower, premium dining, concierge service, and exclusive lounge access. Because Prestige Class sells out quickly, we made sure to book the trip more than a year in advance through a rail vacation travel agency. But in March 2026, after waiting all that time, we received a phone call telling us our Prestige Class cabin was no longer available and that our reservation had been moved into a standard sleeper cabin. That didn’t make sense. So we contacted VIA Rail directly to understand what happened to our reservation. What we discovered surprised us. According to VIA Rail, our original booking had been confirmed in Prestige Class, but the reservation had later been changed by the travel agency — meaning the cabin we secured over a year earlier was no longer ours. This trip was supposed to be the start of a major travel series for our channel featuring: • the VIA Rail Canadian train • the Prestige Class luxury cabin • the dining experience onboard • scenic rail travel across the Canadian Rockies • and an Alaska cruise departing from Vancouver Unfortunately, with the Prestige Class experience gone, the entire itinerary had to change. In this video we explain exactly what happened to our VIA Rail Prestige Class reservation, what we learned when we contacted the railway directly, and how a trip we planned for over a year suddenly fell apart. If you’re considering booking VIA Rail Prestige Class or planning a luxury train trip across Canada, this is something you may want to know before you book.
