Starting a YouTube channel in retirement at age 60 has been a rewarding activity for us. Besides cultivating our creative abilities inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert, there are several additional reasons: 1. Share Our Wisdom and Experience we have acquired during your 60+ years, along with traveling to 80 countries. Starting a YouTube channel allows us to share this with a broader audience, helping others learn from our experiences, mistakes, and insights. 2. Connect with a Diverse Audience: YouTube has a vast and diverse user base spanning different age groups. Starting a channel at age 60 gives us the opportunity to connect with people of all ages who may be interested in your content, including younger viewers seeking guidance and advice. 3. Stay Mentally and Physically Active : Creating and managing a YouTube channel can be mentally stimulating and engaging. It encourages us to learn new skills, such as video editing and content creation, which can help keep your mind sharp. Additionally, the process of planning, filming, and editing videos can be physically active and provide a sense of purpose. 4. Pursue Your Passions: Retirement often provides more free time to pursue your passions and interests. Whether it's cooking, gardening, traveling, or any other hobby, starting a YouTube channel focused on your interests can be a way to indulge in what you love while sharing it with others. 5. Build a Community: YouTube has allowed us to build a community of people our age that desire to travel and live big in retirement. We gain so much much by being a part of a community of like-minded people who love to travel the world and live thier best retirement lives. 6. Monetization Opportunities: While it may not be the primary goal, we hope to generate income from our channel through ad revenue, sponsorships, merchandise sales. This additional income in retirement can be beneficial, especially for those wanting to travel the world. 7. Leave a Digital Legacy: Our YouTube channel can serve as a digital legacy for our future generations, including your family and friends. They can access your videos to learn about your life, thoughts, and experiences long after you're gone. 8. Challenge Yourself: Starting something new at any age can be a challenge, but it's also an opportunity for personal growth. It has been empowering to leave our comfort zone, learn new things, meet new people, and embrace technology. 9. After completing a two-year journey in our Airstream to see all 50 states and 51 National Parks, we left to travel abroad.
