Subscribe to the Eat Sleep Cruise YouTube Channel if you love to travel and cruise the world! https://www.youtube.com/c/EatSleepCruise1?sub_confirmation=1 With several cruise lines announcing cancellations last week, we were not surprised that there were more cancellations and cruise updates this week. Donโt worry if you missed any of the headlines, as we have you covered with our major cruise news for all the major cruise lines. In this video, we provide the latest cruise cancellations and cruise ship updates for all the major cruise lines. If you enjoy the video, please make sure to give it a BIG THUMBS UP! A vaccine might be required to cruise! This latest cruise update came from Frank Del Rio, the CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. During an interview, he admitted the cruise company is looking at the legality of such a move. Also, in other related cruise news, Del Rio was candid, claiming that for cruising to resume in March 2021 was a โlong shotโ. While Carnival Cruise Line had a major cruise update last week, the line issued further cancellations this week. The cruise line will be pushing back the start dates for three ships due to drydock in early 2021. Now, the Carnival Magic, Carnival Paradise, and Carnival Valor will all set sail months later than originally planned. This latest cruise news is disheartening for Carnival fans. Viking Cruises also had some cruise ship updates this week. In an online video featuring the companyโs chairman, Torstein Hagen, the cruise line announced it was postponing cruises until April 1, 2021 on both river and ocean ships. Along with these cruise cancellations, Hagen introduced the Viking Health and Safety Program. Some of these new enhancements include new ventilation systems, UV-C cleaning robots, and specialized medical equipment on all ocean ships to allow for daily COVID testing. This major cruise news is every encouraging for the resumption of cruising later this year. In more cruise news, Virgin Voyages also announced it was rescheduling the inaugural cruises for both of its ships. Now, Scarlet Ladyโs maiden voyage will be May 9, 2021. This cruise update is astounding as this means the initial cruise for the ship will now be delayed over a year because of COVID-19. The lineโs second ship, Valiant Lady, will now set sail on November 14, 2021, with its first cruise departing from PortMiami. Royal Caribbeanโs Quantum of the Seas set sail on December 1st from Singapore. While the first two sailings had no issues, there was a COVID related incident on the third trip. A passenger tested positive for the virus on the second sea day, prompting the ship to return to the homeport. Unfortunately, it was later revealed this was a false positive. Still, this negative news does not help the cruise industry. In other cruise news, Cunard announced it was further delaying the resumption of two of its ships. Due to the difficulty with international travel, the cruise line is delaying cruises on Queen Mary 2 through May 28, 2021. Further, the line push backed cruises on its Queen Elizabeth cruise ship until June 4th 2021.
