A friend who lives in Hilo was gracious enough to take us to see the Mauna Loa volcano, which was actively erupting during our visit. We also drove to the top of Mauna Kea and saw (snow!) and the observatories. Afterwards, we had a local lunch at Verna's Drive Inn and saw a sea turtle at Reeds Bay Beach Park. A beautiful day on Hawaii's big island.
