The incident happened June 29 as the ship sailed from the Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale. Officials say the mother was taking photos of her daughter near an open porthole when the child climbed a railing and fell roughly 49 feet into the ocean. Prosecutors called the fall a “momentary lapse in judgment” but said the mother’s actions did not rise to the level of criminal negligence. Carnival Cruise Line has announced new deployments for 2027 and 2028, including the return of year-round cruises from Mobile, Alabama. Starting May 2027, Carnival Valor will become the first Conquest-class ship to homeport in Mobile, offering six- to eight-day cruises to Nassau, Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key. Valor will wrap up service in New Orleans in early May 2027. Meanwhile, Carnival Glory will continue three- and four-day cruises from Port Canaveral, and Carnival Conquest will sail out of Miami, including two Carnival Journeys sailings in November 2027.
