One of the most unique aspects of this amazing 18N transpacific cruise is that the cruise ship crosses the equator on the way from Sydney, Australia to Honolulu, Hawaii. And there's a special ceremony for sailors (passengers & crew) who are crossing the equator for the first time on a ship. Do you know the difference between a Polywog and a Shellback? When was the last time you kissed a fish? In this episode, we're waiting for King Neptune and his court to arrive on the pool deck to oversee the ceremony to mark Crossing the Equator. Once on the throne, King Neptune and his helpers initiate a reading of the charges against the volunteer Polywogs, and then the Crossing the Line ceremonies take place. King Neptune is keeping alive a seafarers' traditional that's over 400 years old! It's all in good fun, and everyone who participates volunteers to be part of the zany antics. Check this out and be prepared if you cross the equator on a cruise ship! We came away with a certificate from Celebrity Cruises marking the significant milestone. Luckily, this was our second time crossing the equator on a cruise ship, so we weren't candidates for the ceremony. Instead, we could focus on getting the cameras out and sharing this with all of you. Everyone was in good spirits, knew what was coming, and had a fun time!
