The second of three busy days in Southampton Docks on Sunday 1st September 2013 with yet another four cruise ships in port. As with Saturday 31st August, three ships were Carnival-owned with two from P&O Cruises - "Oceana" at the 'Mayflower' Terminal & "Ventura" at the 'Ocean' Terminal with Princess Cruises' "Crown Princess" at the 'QEII' Terminal and Royal Caribbean International's "Adventure of the Seas" at the 'City' Terminal. The first ship to get underway was "Crown Princess" at 16:18 (18 minutes late) and heading for Bergen, Norway. Being starboard-side-to at the berth meant she had to reverse around beyond the Dock Head into the River Itchen to turn before heading off down Southampton Water. "Adventure of the Seas" was next to depart at 16:24 heading for Reykjavik. She made very slow progress to begin with due to "Crown Princess" turning ahead of her before following her down to The Solent. The third ship to depart was "Oceana" at 16:33 heading for Cartagena, Spain saluting with "Ventura" as she passed. "Ventura" then set off after "Oceana" had passed at 16:55 heading for Maderia. Other ships were also moving around the docks both before & after the ships' departures. Prior to the cruise ship departures, the Grimaldi Lines' Car Carrier "Grande Portogallo" had set off from Berth 104 at 15:19 heading for Flushing. She passed the Training Ship "Tenacious" who was arriving back into Southampton, docking at Berth 104W. Finally, another Car Carrier, "Frontier Ace" departed from Berth 40 for Suez at 17:10 once "Ventura" had sailed past. Viewed from Town Quay.
