Take the quiz! http://www.cruisetipstv.com/whats-your-cruise-personality/ Hey Cruisers, I’m Sheri with Cruise Tips TV. If you haven’t seen Part 1, you’re missing our giant disclaimer on this topic, so be sure to start there. With that out of the way, let’s get into our not-so-scientific spin on cruise line personalities. Starting with Celebrity Cruises. Celebrity is known for being elegant, yet modern. Their ships are masterfully designed with a goal to sail to every continent, and they have a very loyal following. Most Celebrity fans would agree their cuisine ranks better than average in the cruise world. Celebrity’s nightlife may seem quiet for some, and it’s kids programs are certainly outshined by the line’s food focus. We don’t want to say one line is best for this or that personality, so let’s just say Celebrity is “Foodie approved”. Alright, now how about Disney Cruise Line? Seems pretty obvious huh? Super family friendly, Disney characters everywhere. You might be tempted to think it’s just for people traveling with kids. But’s that’s not entirely true. Disney offers so much more than one might think. Their onboard entertainment is famous for being the best in the cruise industry, there are private dining and relaxation venues for adults only, and their staterooms are bigger than average. If you don’t mind paying a little extra, cruising without a casino, and you like the theme park concept, Disney gets some of the best customer satisfaction scores on the high seas. So yeah, there’s more to Disney than it’s family focus. Still we’re gonna say Disney is “Family approved.” Ah, now for Princess cruises. The Love Boat line is very much STILL living up to its name. And while Princess remains true to it’s romantic reputation, it’s great for families and singles too. Princess offers so many itineraries, that when I search their website, I feel like I’m reading from my “dream cruise” list. From dining on your balcony, to the adults only Sanctuary, and top notch steakhouses, it’s no surprise Princess has grown as a market leader for cruisers looking for a slightly more premium experience. Ultimately though it’s hard to deny that Princess is “Romance approved.” Next up, Holland America. The line may have a rep for being the best cruise line for the older crowd, however we find they’re actually quite versatile for cruisers of all ages. Holland America does traditional cruising SO beautifully! Tea time- check! Dressing up for dinner- you bet! But make no mistake, Holland America’s newer ships are high-tech and entertainment rich. We love Holland America, and we think their approach will appeal to cruiser’s that value tradition. For that reason we say Holland America is “Traditionalist approved.” It’s no surprise that Carnival is the largest of the mass market cruise lines, and they don’t call them the Fun Ships for nothing! Arguably the king of bargain cruises, Carnival delivers the fun with a high-energy atmosphere and loads of activities for kids, teens and adults alike. From dancing and singing wait-staff in the dining rooms to waterslides and a new skyride. Carnival is constantly adding new ships and renovating their older fleet. They have a nice variety of home-port cruises, which may mean shorter travel to port for some cruisers. And, they offer lots of short itineraries, which allow first timers to get a taste of vacationing at sea, without breaking the budget. It probably goes without saying, but Carnival is perfect for night owls with tons of bars, great venues for dancing and awesome comedy performances. We’ll say Carnival is “Party approved.” Let’s talk about Norwegian Cruise Line, or NCL. NCL is well known for freestyle cruising, meaning the rules are more relaxed and you get to create your own vacation experience. Formal nights are optional, jeans are always okay, dining times are flexible, and NCL has carved out a huge audience of people who love a less traditional cruising experience. Teens will have trouble being bored on NCL thanks to onboard facilities like video arcades, water parks, outdoor sports courts and cool musical venues. NCL has also had some success pushing into the bargain cruise marketing, but faces tough competition from Carnival. We’re going to borrow NCL’s own tagline here and say Norwegian is “Freestyle approved.” Royal Caribbean continues to dominate the cruise world with industry first entertainment, like their new aqua theatre, killer programs for teens and kids, and massive megaships that are destinations in themselves. But what stands out more is their fitness focus. If you’re looking for a great place to bust out the “active wear” then look no further than Royal Caribbean. Be prepared for some extra costs with certain activities and pack those athletic shoes! So clearly, we say Royal Caribbean is “Fitness approved.” Be sure to take our not-so-scientific cruise line personality quiz on our website, http://www.cruisetipstv.com
