In statements, it appears that the cruise lines have changed their position on requiring vaccines on cruises for summer 2021. Donβt worry if you missed any updates as we take a detailed look at these two cruise lines and their current vaccine mandates. If you enjoy the video, please make sure to give it a BIG THUMBS UP! As part of the celebration, Carnival Cruise Line's President, Christine Duffy, was interviewed on Good Morning America. During the interview, Ms. Duffy was asked about the health and safety protocols on Carnival Cruise Line's ships. Surprisingly, Ms. Duffy indicated that Carnival Cruise Line seems to be favoring requiring vaccines for the brand's initial cruises. Now, if that sounds like a complete reversal from the cruise lineβs previous stance on COVID-19 vaccines, youβd be correct. In several media interviews both the cruise line President, as well as Arnold Donald, Carnival Corporation's CEO and Chairman, made comments that the cruise line would not require vaccines. On April 13th in an interview with Bloomberg, Arnold Donald firmly said the cruise brands would not require cruisers to be vaccinated. Christine Duffy seemed to defend this stance. During an interview on NBC News, she complained about mandating cruise lines to force vaccines upon guests. So, why the change? Part of it might be because of the test cruise requirement. While some news outlets have reported Carnival Cruise Line has been approved by the CDC for test cruises, the cruise line has not confirmed these reports. It is possible that when creating its plans for test cruises, the cruise line realized it would not be able to provide a desirable cruise experience to guests by implementing the protocols required by the CDC. So, itβs much easier and quicker to begin revenue sailings by requiring vaccines. With this requirement, the cruise line can bypass test cruises and provide a more "normal" cruise experience to guests. We expect to hear from Carnival soon about its cruise restart plans as well as its health and safety protocols. -----ROYAL CARIBBEAN VACCINE REQUIREMENTS------ When it comes to Royal Caribbean requiring vaccines for cruises, it seems like the cruise line has switched in the opposite direction. All along, Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO, Richard Fain, has been pretty vocal about the power of vaccinations as a means of returning to cruising. Late Friday afternoon, Royal Caribbean announced a cruise restart plan for the United States. In that cruise announcement, Royal Caribbean revealed that an additional 6 ships would begin sailing from the U.S. as early as July 2nd. However, there was no mention of a vaccine requirement for those eligible, only that it was "strongly recommended". Now, Royal Caribbean has received approval from the CDC for several test cruises this summer. So, if Royal Caribbean is taking the test cruise route, does this suggest that they donβt plan to require vaccines? Why has Royal Caribbean decided to change its vaccination requirement? Well, it is possible that Royal Caribbean is more confident in its health and safety protocols. By going the test cruise route, Royal Caribbean can cater to families and other individuals who choose not to be vaccinated. However, this stance might actually turn off vaccinated passengers who are looking to cruise with other fully vaccinated passengers without all the stringent health measures in place. ------TRENDING VIDEOS FROM EAT SLEEP CRUISE------ Royal Caribbean Cruise Restart Plans: https://youtu.be/49Jzl3BhxKM Top Alaska Cruise Ships: https://youtu.be/rbMHoroChL0 Top New Cruise Ships 2021: https://youtu.be/XtqW0X5GrGE Make sure to SUBSCRIBE to our channel above to get the latest cruise tips, cruise reviews, packing guides, port guides, travel tips, and more.
