YouTube Video Description

🗿 Disney is using breakthrough tech to bring MASSIVE characters to life… and I got to see it up close. The Titan puppets in the new Hercules show on the Disney Destiny are huge, coming in at 9-feet and 13-feet tall and each weighing 120 pounds. But the performers inside barely feel any of that weight. Here’s the wild tech behind it, and why it could change the future of character encounters at Disney Parks. Starting as Project Exo in 2020, Disney Imagineering spent years developing a new exoskeleton system they call Exo-Frame, and the big innovation is this: The exoskeleton takes the weight off the performer and places it on the ground. They also built in pneumatic joints in the shoulders and ankles that assist the performer’s movement. So when the Titans swing their arms or stomp across the stage, it’s the tech helping power the motion. In a way, it’s puppet meets mech suit. That means performers can move these giant characters with surprising ease, even during the intense fight scene with Hercules. So you don’t need Herc-level strength to puppeteer one of these Titans. If this exoskeleton tech sounds familiar, you might’ve seen it used in the Hulk test at Disney California Adventure back in 2022. Imagineering took everything they learned and leveled it up for these new Titans. And here’s the exciting part: Disney told me the team learned a lot from building these giants. Lessons they’ll apply to future larger-than-life characters. Will we see Exo-Frame tech next in Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios? Villains Land? Avatar at California Adventure? Nothing has been confirmed, but the possibilities are HUGE.
