About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionβ
Dunnotter Castle is set on a rocky outcrop above the North Sea in Aberdeenshire, just outside Stonehaven, Scotland. The surviving buildings are largely of the 15th and 16th centuries, but the site is believed to have been fortified in the Early Middle Ages. After going up and down over 200 steps, there is so much to explore from living quarters to social areas. It is believed there was a church on the site in the 5th Centruy AD. In its time, it has been sacked by Vikings, been home to a lion and hosted Kings and Queens. The Dunnottar Castle Website says it best - "Steeped in history, this romantic and haunting ruin is a photographerβs paradise, a history loverβs dream and an iconic tourist destination for visitors the world over."
