Creator's Key Takeaways

We would highly recommend a side trip to Halan Bay if visiting Hanoi.

I would also do at least a twoight, three-day cruise versus a one- night cruise as there is so much to experience in the bay during daylight hours.

What an experience and a great start to our emerald tour of Vietnam.

The prison was built by the French between 1896 and 1901 when Vietnam was still part of French Indo-China.

Creator's Tips & Advice

βœ“Ensure you have cash on hand and the local currency is the Vietnamese dong.
βœ“Stick together, walk at a steady pace, don't stop or run, look drivers in the eye when crossing the street.
βœ“Best to use the hose next to the toilet, aka the bum gun, for toilet paper disposal.

Crossing busy streets with many scooters β€” Stick together, walk at a steady pace, don't stop or run, look drivers in the eye, and traffic will move around you.
Using toilets in Vietnam β€” Use the hose (bum gun) for cleaning and carry toilet paper with you, as some public restrooms may not have any.
