YouTube Video Description↓

MSC World America brings us back to Cozumel, Mexico, docking at the Punta Langosta pier on a cloudy, rainy morning. With beach plans washed out again, we explored downtown Cozumel on foot, discovering quiet streets, colourful squares, great local food, and a completely different vibe from the busy port area. Day 5 of our seven day cruise on MSC World America brought us into Cozumel, Mexico, where another cloudy day greeted us as we docked at the downtown pier, far from the beaches but close to the heart of the city. With the weather looking gloomy again, we decided to skip the beaches and walk into town to see what we could find. The port area was exactly as we remembered, crowded, noisy, and full of shops and bars, including SeΓ±or Frog’s right at the entrance. But once we crossed the street and walked just five minutes toward the centre of town, everything changed. We entered the main square, which was quiet, peaceful, colourful, and full of charm, with banners, decorations, and even an umbrella street. The vibe was completely different from the hectic port. We wandered down a side street and found Woody’s, where an amazing guitar player was performing. We stopped for a few beverages and some local cuisine, delicious, affordable, and a great break from the crowds. Afterward, we walked back toward the pier using two quiet backstreets off the main square. They were beautifully decorated, felt very safe, and offered a calm, relaxing walk back. Crossing the bridge toward the ships, we were greeted by a striking contrast, our massive MSC World America (225,000 tons, built 2025) beside the much smaller Grandeur of the Seas (70,000 tons, built 1996). What a difference. Back onboard, we returned to the room to change and then headed to the Panorama Lounge, which was completely deserted, not even the bar was open. But the views were incredible, and we enjoyed a couple of cocktails in total peace. Dinner tonight was at Paxos Mediterranean, a specialty restaurant on the World Promenade featuring Greek and Mediterranean dishes, chicken, lamb, seafood, and more. The service, atmosphere, and food were all excellent. One of the things we love most about this ship is how well designed the specialty restaurants are. They offer a truly upscale experience. After dinner, we went to The Loft for the comedy show, followed by the Duelling Pianos, which was a fantastic way to end the night. That wraps up Day 5, a surprisingly charming day in Cozumel, great food, great entertainment, and another reminder that even cloudy days can turn into memorable ones.
