Fortaleza Brazil - The Most Dangerous Cruise Port We've Seen—What Happens Next?

🚢 Stepping off the Sapphire Princess in Fortaleza, Brazil, came with a serious warning: DO NOT walk outside the port gates. 😨 With favelas and gangs lurking just beyond, this was one of the most intimidating cruise ports we’ve ever encountered. 🚨 Armed police guarded the entrance, and the tension in the air was real. But our day turned around when our Uber driver, Sergio, became our guide for the day! 🙌 He whisked us away to explore Fortaleza safely and showed us the true beauty of his city. 🌴 We browsed the massive 5-story Mercado Central, where we enjoyed fresh coconut milk 🥥 (an experience all on its own!) and snagged some tasty cashew nuts 🥜. Across the street, the breathtaking Fortaleza Cathedral amazed us with its stained glass and peaceful vibe—despite the constant need to stay alert for pickpockets. 🛑 🏖️ Our journey continued with a stroll on the English Bridge, a visit to the Japanese Gardens, and an incredible local meal at Coco Bambu, a high-end restaurant frequented by locals. 🍤🍹 Sergio was a lifesaver and showed us that Fortaleza has beauty and charm, even with its challenges. ✨ This was one of the most unique (and nerve-wracking!) port days we’ve had—proof that travel always has surprises in store.
