The sanctuary is home to macaws, toucans, butterflies, snakes, and other small animals. It’s free to visit this nature park, where you’ll get to see and learn about this species of animals that are indigenous to the island.One thing you will notice, from the moment you visit this port, is its beautiful flowers and plants, which make the island very colorful, giving it a tropical Caribbean scent. What I like most in this park is to visit the Blue Morpho Butterfly Sanctuary. This secluded area features hundreds of various beautiful butterfly species. A highlight of a visit to the sanctuary could be how beautiful the butterflies look when they fly around in the glass house. and Harvest Caye allows for access to the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world.Zip through Placencia Lagoon on a wave runner leaving a rooster tail in your wake and the mainland in your rear view mirror. The journey was so exciting from start to finish. To see all the sights, following the tour guide, all the wave runners could see the numerous mangrove-fringed islands scattered throughout, which are well protected as these ecologically important trees filter impurities from the water and stabilize the coastline. The water in the lagoon is very smooth that you can easily carve your way across the surface without encountering any wake other than your own.
