The City of Inverness, hunting the Loch Ness monster and the Battle of Culloden. This is the start of our Scottish Highlands Road Trip before heading down the Great Glen to the West Coast of Scotland. On the way, we also stop at the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore. Exploring Inverness and walking alongside the Ness River in the morning and then taking a cruise on Loch Ness to the dramatic setting of Urquhart Castle on the shores of the Loch. Keeping an eye out for Nessie herself! We also visit Culloden Moor the historic Culloden Battlefield where on 16 April 1746, the Jacobite army of Charles Edward Stuart "Bonnie Prince Charlie" was decisively defeated by a British government force. An hour’s drive southwest of Culloden is the Highland Folk Museum. The museum brings to life the domestic and working conditions of the early Scottish Highland people. The Highland Folk Museum was used as a filming location for season 1 of the ‘Outlander’ series.
