Subscribe to the Eat Sleep Cruise YouTube Channel if you love to travel and cruise the world! https://www.youtube.com/c/EatSleepCruise1?sub_confirmation=1 While disheartening, more major cruise lines made announcements this past week regarding further cruise cancellations. Most cruisers were anticipating these changes from cruise lines, including Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity Cruises, though Virgin Voyages did take some by surprise. Get caught up with all the cruise cancellations and further delays in cruising from the past with our latest video. If you enjoy the video, please make sure to give it a BIG THUMBS UP! Prior to this week, Carnival Cruise Line was the first major cruise line to cancel cruises until August 1st. The company still has the most comprehensive plan to date, with a phased roll-out of 8 ships across three ports of call. The announcements of cruise cancellations this week started with Norwegian Cruise Line. On Wednesday morning, the line announced a further pause of cruising until August 1st. The cruise line also extended its Peace of Mind policy to November 2020. However, the cruise line has still not formally mentioned its plans or new policies and procedures that will be employed due to the health crisis once cruising resumes. Shortly after NCL's announcement, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises revealed their plans to cancel cruising through August 1st. These cruise lines have also not mentioned in what capacity the fleets will be sailing once cruising resumes. Although, comments made by the company's leadership do suggest that there will be a gradual return to service. The company did provide a brief overview of its four-point plan to ensure a safe return to cruising, focusing on onboard and ashore sanitation and protocols to protect guests. Lastly, in a more shocking announcement, Virgin Voyages further extended its pause of cruising until October 16th. This new date for the Scarlet Lady inaugural cruise is over 6 months later than the original April 1st. The cruise line also revealed its Smoothing Sailing Program. This new program, similar to other brands Cruise with Confidence policies, will allow cruisers to cancel a cruise up to 48 hours in advance and still receive a future cruise credit. It also changes the date of final payment for a booked cruise to just 60 days prior to sailing.
