The LOGOS HOPE is widely known as the world’s largest floating book fair. Operated as a mission-oriented vessel, it travels to ports around the globe to provide literature, cultural exchange, and community support. The ship functions as a "vessel of knowledge, help, and hope." It hosts a massive bookstore featuring over 5,000 book titles—ranging from science and education to faith-based literature—offered at affordable prices to promote literacy and learning. Originally built in 1973 as the car ferry GUSTAV VASA, the vessel was later operated as the NORRÖNA. It was acquired in 2004 by its current operator and underwent an extensive multi-year renovation in Croatia to be transformed into its present configuration, officially entering service as LOGOS HOPE in 2009. The ship serves as a home for a unique, international community. With roughly 300 to 400 volunteers on board at any given time, it includes living quarters, a school for the children of families serving on board, and various communal spaces. The Organization LOGOS HOPE is owned and operated by GBA Ships (a German-based charity whose name stands for "Good Books for All"). GBA Ships works in partnership with Operation Mobilisation (OM), a faith-based international organization. One of the most distinctive aspects of the ship is its crew. The volunteers are unpaid, international, and represent 60+ different nations. They typically serve for periods ranging from three months to two years, bringing a wide range of professional skills—such as maritime expertise, teaching, medicine, and carpentry—to support the ship's operations. Beyond selling books, the organization focuses on humanitarian outreach. When docked in a port (typically for one to three weeks), the crew often engages in local community projects, such as renovating schools or clinics, providing medical or dental supplies, and facilitating cultural events. The ship is a successor to a long line of previous mission vessels operated by the same organization, including the LOGOS, DOULOS, and LOGOS II, continuing a legacy of maritime ministry that began in 1970. 0:00 Intro 0:39 Welcome Area 0:52 Book Shop 2:20 Shop 2:43 Exhibition 3:23 Cafeteria 4:19 Reception Desk 4:23 Mess 5:06 Staff Lounge 5:15 Library 5:25 Logos Lounge 6:24 Hope Theatre 6:44 School 6:57 Fun Deck 7:07 Bridge 7:47 Health Clinic 8:03 Bakery 8:18 Laundry 9:17 Port Plaques 9:35 Operation Mobilisation's other ships 10:00 Outro #church #travel #travelvlog #community #christian #christianity #shiptour #cruiseship #cruise #cruiselife #ferry #historicships
