Creator's Key Takeaways
I arrived overdressed for a very warm day because I had been cold the night before. This turned out to be a huge mistake as I immediately overheated.
The views from the ruins were spectacular. Immediately across the valley is Pinuyuna Mountain.
I was disappointed, but I was glad I hiked as far as I did since the views were just magnificent.

Ollantaytambo is often a stop for travelers on their way to Machu Picchu. I spent the morning there on my way to the historic site and discovered an amazing Incan ruin that is a fete of human engineering. At 9160 feet, the elevation is incredibly high and requires some stamina to hike to the top. The views of the area are spectacular and there is a small village at the base where you can enjoy refreshments or shop for souvenirs. There is quite a bit to see and do in the area. @seniorsolotravel Facebook Travel Forum: https://www.facebook.com/groups/443309331791413 Senior Solo Travel Website: https://www.seniorsolotravel.net/ Machu Picchu-Galapagos Videos: 24 hrs in Lima: https://youtu.be/ycMXXNHU4WU Ollantaytambo: https://youtu.be/Ws_tENjXKtY Machu Picchu: https://youtu.be/8yPDoIGK3Xs Nat Geo Islander II Ship Overview: https://youtu.be/AZNIaLqMFqo Quito: https://youtu.be/wX3V0gNzJzA Snorkeling in the Galapagos: https://youtu.be/DZZUpxEF-hk Kayaking in the Galapagos: https://youtu.be/rWVxLajYkWo Peru & Galapagos Escape: https://youtu.be/-X0JSwHVV7k Please subscribe to be notified when more videos are posted on this Machu Picchu and Galapagos adventure!
