During our Panama City Canal cruise, we ported in the city of Huatulco which is in the Oaxaca state of Mexico along the Pacific Coast. It was once a small fishing village and today is a growing resort destination with a lot to offer at very reasonable rates. The city features five separate beaches all are breathtaking. The main city of Crucecita (little cross) is the main city in the area and features all the stores, apartments, hotels, and commerce where the local people reside who are employed at the resorts or their small businesses. Our driver Adán took us around his town to show us the best places in just a couple hour time. We drove by the big resorts, went to the church, ate at a small restaurant that hand makes their goods, the local mezcal store that also sold local coffee beans and mole. We then completed our drive back near the port in the middle of the open market. I have a slide of Adán's business card if you need transportation or a couple hour tour of this beautiful area. We highly recommend him as he is very reasonable priced and extremely knowledgable about the area. He also resided in the USA for a few years and is fluent in English!
