YouTube Video Description↓

The most famous cruise ship of all time, Princess Cruises PACIFIC PRINCESS, was the setting for the hit TV show "The Love Boat" from 1977 until 1986. This sleek, Scandinavian-designed, German built ship has a fascinating history, both on and off screen, dating from 1971 as Flagship Cruises SEA VENTURE, told with vintage images from our archives. The wonderful Gavin MacLeod, who played Captain Merrill Stubing on the show, also shares numerous anecdotes about his time on the show and his final farewell to the ship in an exclusive interview with host Peter Knego. This 45-minute video also takes the viewer on a full top to bottom tour of the PACIFIC PRINCESS during her final days with Princess Cruises. This ship and the success of the show are credited with bringing cruising to the general public and making the industry the behemoth it is today. There was so much material, we have had to split this video into two parts, with the second part about the ship's post Princess career and sad demise coming soon. MEA CULPA -- I incorrectlyl mentioned Rita Moreno being in "Troubled Waters", the Columbo episode with SUN PRINCESS. It was actually PoupΓ©e Bocar.
