"Qingdao Tower" is moved between berths in Southampton - 02/04/2013
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
The container ship "Qingdao Tower" arrived in Southampton in March 2013 and originally docked at Berth 40 next to the 'QEII' Terminal. The ship is currently out of work and has been laid-up in Southampton Docks for what could be until September. On the morning of Tuesday 2nd April however the vessel was moved from its former dock at Berth 40 up to Berth 109 nearer the Container Terminal. This is because Berth 40 is often occupied by the regular car carrier vessels whilst the 'QEII' Terminal occasionally sees passenger traffic from ships such as "Queen Mary 2" who will be returning from her World Cruise on Friday 26th April. "Qingdao Tower" left Berth 40 at around 10:00 following an hour's delay and the departure of a Red Funnel ferry to East Cowes. She did however move under her own power and instead was moved by four of Southampton's 'Svitzer' tugs: "Bristol", "Bentley", "Sarah" & "Ferriby". Viewed from the Town Quay.
