Scalloping Adventure in Steinhatchee, Florida | Family Fun and Underwater Wonders!

Steinhatchee, known for its rich maritime history, has been a beloved destination for generations, and we're thrilled to share our incredible experience with you. We left our house around 7:00 am during a beautiful Florida sunrise in our Tesla Model 3. We knew there were no Superchargers close to our destination so we were prepared to supercharge on the way back before making it home. But with our new roof shades installed our Tesla used far less energy while parked, so we were pleasantly surprised by that, and didn't have to charge as long as we thought. From its humble beginnings as a fishing village to becoming a popular spot for recreational activities like scalloping, Steinhatchee has maintained its small-town charm while offering an abundance of natural beauty. But first things first, let's dive into the world of bay scallops! I learned more about the fascinating life cycle of these delectable creatures, from their early stages as tiny larvae to their growth into the iconic mollusks we hunt for. After spawning the Bay Scallop dies much like salmon, they only live an average of 1 year. It's a captivating process that underscores the importance of maintaining the delicate balance of our marine ecosystems. We're immensely grateful to our wonderful family for inviting us to this unforgettable adventure. Their laughter, camaraderie, and shared love for the ocean made this day truly special.
