Today we arrive in beautiful Ålesund for the third stop of our Norwegian Fjords cruise aboard P&O Iona. We booked the official P&O excursion “Sky High Views in Strandafjell” and honestly had really high hopes for this one. Stunning scenery, mountain views and the cable car experience sounded incredible… but things quickly took an unexpected turn. Around an hour into the journey we were told the Strandafjellet cable car wasn’t operating — the main reason for booking the trip in the first place. Safe to say we were massively disappointed, especially after the long coach journey. To be fair to P&O Cruises, a partial refund was processed promptly, which we do appreciate. But did the excursion still deliver enough to make it worthwhile? Back onboard we rounded off the day with dinner at The Glass House, enjoying one of the excellent red wine flights alongside some seriously good food for a surprisingly small surcharge.
