Join me as we explore the beauty, culture, and history of Taiwan on an unforgettable day trip from the port city of **Keelung** to the vibrant capital of **Taipei**! We had to miss Kaohsioung, our first port of Taiwan, due to high winds and rocky seas, but we were relieved to be able to make the port of Keelung with much better weather. Our adventure begins at the cruise port in Keelung as we set out for a full day of sightseeing across Taipei. Our first stop is the world-famous **National Palace Museum**, home to one of the largest collections of ancient Chinese artifacts and imperial treasures anywhere in the world. From delicate jade carvings to centuries-old works of art, the exhibits here are truly incredible. Next, we head to the historic **Grand Hotel Taipei** for an unforgettable buffet lunch. This iconic red palace overlooking the city has welcomed dignitaries from around the world—including three U.S. presidents—and is famous for both its architecture and its cuisine. After lunch, we visit the beautiful and historic **Lungshan Temple**, one of Taipei’s oldest and most beloved temples, where locals come daily to pray and make offerings. From there we continue to the impressive **Martyrs’ Shrine**, where we’ll witness the precise and fascinating **Changing of the Guard** ceremony performed by Taiwan’s honor guards. Our journey then takes us to the majestic **Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall**, where we’ll walk the expansive grounds, take in the grand architecture, and explore exhibits dedicated to Taiwan’s history. Before heading back to the ship, we make one final stop for photos at the iconic **Taipei 101**, once the tallest building in the world and still one of the most recognizable landmarks in Asia. From ancient artifacts to modern skyscrapers, traditional temples to historic monuments, this Taipei tour showcases the incredible contrasts that make Taiwan so fascinating.
