Tanagers of Ecuador
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
Are you a birder? Wanting to explore birding habitats near Quito? We took an amazing tour that we booked through Neotropical Nature & Birding Trips that took us to Masphi Amagusa Reserve. I'll link below the specific tour we took. I'll also link the specific reserve we went to. One of the highlights of this trip was the colorful tanagers. This video includes many that we saw. I'll list them below (in roughly the order they first appear in the video) so you can learn to identify them. (Note, one non-Tanager managed to make its way into this video. See if you can spot the differences.) Golden Tanager (yellow and black) Orange-bellied Euphonia (female is yellow and gray) - Although this used to be considered a Tanager it is now recognized as a member of the finch family. Glistening-Green Tanager (all green) Flame-rumped Tanager (larger silver beak, male all black except yellow rump, females and juveniles have yellow belly) Black-chinned Mountain Tanager (black head except yellow spot on top, yellow bellow, yellow back, black wings with blue spot) Moss-backed Tanager (olive green/dark overall except yellow spot on throat) Flame-faced Tanager (orange and black head, light belly, black back and wings with hints of green/blue) Rufous-throated Tanager (orange throat, dark back, light belly) Golden-naped Tanager (blue overall with an gold spot on itβs head) Birding Tour - https://neotropicalecuador.com/day-trips-close-to-quito/mashpi-amagusa-nature-birding/ Mashpi Amagusa Reserve - https://mashpi-amagusa-reserve.com Check out my blog post for more photos - https://rebecca-travel-log.blogspot.com/2023/11/ecuador-birding-tour-celebrity.html About Me: My love of cruising started at the age of 13 when I sailed on the SS Norway. Since then, I have been married on a cruise (Holland's Zuiderdam) and have sailed most of the major lines with plans to add more to my cruise history. Sometimes we cruise for the ports. Sometimes we cruise for the ship experience. And occassionally, we splurge and cruise for the room. Follow along here on my YouTube channel or through my blog or Instagram.
