Godmother was Rebecca "Becky" Webb Wilson—a renowned attorney, author, photographer, and philanthropist—who sent the ship off with her best wishes for its maiden season. Rebecca Webb Wilson performed the christening act in classic fashion, using a broad Viking axe to cut a ribbon and send a bottle of Norwegian aquavit crashing against the ship's hull. The festivities were accompanied by the musical stylings of world-renowned crossover soprano Sissel Kyrkjebø, who is herself closely connected to the Viking family, having served as the godmother of the VIKING JUPITER.
