Check out what we did in Mazatlan as part of our 7 night Mexico Riviera cruise via the cruise ship Norwegian Joy! We used the taxi to go from the cruise terminal (check out our video of the Mazatlan port here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fxb4UdPWFA4 ) to the Malecon. The cost of the taxi was very reasonable. Once there we saw various statues including the Monument to Pedro Infante and one for Ferrusquilla. We then passed the Olas Altas Mazatlan Beach where we saw many folks having a good time relaxing on the sand, swimming or body-boarding amongst the waves. Next we visited the Carpa Olivera "Alberca de Mar", a public bath that is certainly very popular, along with the artistic Monumento a la Mujer Mazatleca. We had a chance to eat some local oysters but turned it down just in case. Mirador Malecon de Mazatlan was a nice viewpoint, but certainly not as impressive as the famous El Clavadista Mazatlan. We climbed up the tower and got some great views there. If you are in the mood to shop, there are many local vendors there. Before we hopped on a taxi to Centro Historico (the Old Mazatlan) we saw the La Cueva Del Diablo (Devil's Cave) which seemed like a fun photo-op. Once in old-town Mazatlan we first visited the impressive Catedral Basílica de la Inmaculada Concepción and the adjacent Plaza Republica. The City Hall is within that plaza, and we were able to use a restroom inside. Next up was Plazuela Machado, a plaza that had plenty of restaurants, shops and artistic holiday decor. It was then time to get back to the cruise terminal. We passed by the Angela Peralta Theater with its Roman-esque columns and several residential neighborhoods during the 20-minute walk. Later on, back on the ship, we enjoyed dinner while watching the ship sail away from the city. If you are looking to do a DIY excursion in Mazatlan, hopefully you will find our vlog useful! And if you have any questions please feel free to post as a comment and we're more than happy to help!
