https://www.TravelsWithSheila.com Oban is the only town on Stewart Island, southernmost and smallest of the 3 main New Zealand Islands. A 30-minute tender ride in each direction to Oban, town of 400. Passengers either have to wait for a small bus to town with limited capacity or walk 1/3 of a mile up a steep hill to begin with. Hmm. Unimpressed with the possibilities, we stay onboard.
