Witness Majestic Whales Breaching In Juneau - The Ultimate Alaska Adventure!

Juneau is Alaska’s capital. It can only be accessed by sea or air. But what a place it is. It’s great and has a real cosmopolitan vibe. Our day afforded time to explore the city before embarking on our excursion. The city has historic buildings and good shops. The Mt Roberts Gondola is very popular and we could walk up and board as each ride was full with pre-booked guests. The tourist hotspots are really nice but there is a wider city area to explore with fabulous sights and bars/coffee shops used by locals. If you had longer you can walk up to Mt Roberts too. But that’s for next time. Our whale watching excursion was simply wonderful. No fewer than 14 Humpback Whales entertaining us as we sailed through beautiful inlets and along breathtaking coastline. This was the best whale watching we’ve done so far. We combined the excursion with a bus ride to the very popular Mendenhall glacier. Again if you had more time, the trails here would be wonderful to explore. But if you don’t take to 20 minute walk to Nugget Falls you are really missing out. Wonderful. This was a long day in port so we packed a lot in. We finished off with a local beer in a super little bar, listening to the chatter and gossip of locals. What a great day.
