5 AMAZING facts about the Queen Mary 2 that you may not know are: 1: QM2 was the first ocean liner built in 30 years, and is the last ocean liner in service. When QM2 entered service in 2004 she was the first liner built since Vistafjord entered service in 1973. It was also over 30 years since QE2's maiden voyage in 1969. 2) You can take your dog and your cat on a transatlantic crossing aboard the Queen Mary 2 thanks to the ship's kennels. QM2 is the only ship to offer kennels on the Atlantic, but she wasn't the first to do so. QE2 had kennels. So did RMS Queen Mary and RMS Queen Elizabeth. There were even kennels aboard Titanic - which had 12 dogs aboard during the maiden voyage. 3) One of QM2's whistles come from the original RMS Queen Mary - yes, the starboard whistle on QM2's funnel dates back to the 1930s and travelled with RMS Queen Mary from 1936-1967! It even went to war! 4) QM2's pods weigh as much as a jumbo jet! Sounds crazy but its true. QM2 is powered by four Rolls Royce Alstom Mermaid Pods which pull the ship through the water. Each one weighs over 300 tonnes making it about the same as a Boeing 747 jet! 5) QM2 is a very fast ship. She is faster than all other cruise ships and can easily outperform cruise ships. But QM2 is not the fastest ocean liner ever, and is slower than Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and the QE2. -- 🚒 Cunard History Website: https://www.chriscunard.com/ πŸ“š Buy books: https://www.chrisframe.com.au/books πŸ‘• Buy cruise merch: https://chrisframeofficial.Teemill.com/ πŸ›³οΈ Learn about cruising: https://www.chrisframe.com.au/ 🎧 Big Cruise Podcast: https://thebigcruisepodcast.com/ 🌐 Frame & Cross Consultancy: https://frameandcross.com/ -- More facts about QM2: Name: Queen Mary 2 (QM2).
