Hey Cruisers, it’s Sheri from CruiseTipsTV. Today, we are going to have a little fun looking at themed cruises. Yes, once again we crush the myth that there is nothing to do on a cruise but eat. Before we get started I should say that what we hope to do is highlight some truly unique cruise opportunities that may surprise and/or pique your interest. If you find yourself saying, “That’s really cool” or “Hey, that’s really weird” let us know. Either response works for us, but we are curious what you think about these cruises. Let’s get started with 5 unique themed cruises that may surprise you. If you’ve ever wondered if you can pack a lightsaber in your carry-on, then this first cruise is probably perfect for you. Yep, It’s a “Star Wars Day at Sea”. This epic adventure comes from Disney Cruise line, and according to their website: Star Wars Day at Sea combines the power of the Force and the magic of Disney—in an out-of-this-world adventure unlike any other! As you enjoy your Caribbean cruise, you’ll be transported to “a galaxy far, far away” for an entire day of fun, including: • A deck party featuring Star Wars Characters, music, dancing and fireworks • Photo opportunities with Characters from across the Stars Wars universe • An onboard version of the Jedi Training Academy, where young Padawans learn lightsaber maneuvers • Star Wars-themed games and activities at Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab • Stellar food and beverage offerings • Screenings of the Star Wars films, plus episodes of Disney’s animated series "Star Wars Rebels" and • Exclusive themed merchandise They’ve got a number of sailings available for this starting in January through April 2017. Head over to their website and check it out now if it interests you. Fans of the British television reality show "Strictly" will love this next one. It’s "Strictly Come Dancing" themed cruises. This toe-tapping cruise comes from P&O Cruises, and promises a kind of back stage pass to the hit show. P&O Cruises site says “take your place in the limelight and perform in front of the celebrity panel for your chance to lift the coveted Strictly Come Dancing Themed Cruise glitterball. Of course, if you’d rather leave the moves to the masters, simply sit back and soak up a live show with your favorite Strictly Come Dancing stars and the fanciest of footwork.” So you can dance or not dance, but either way P&O says you could bump into the celebs themselves at breakfast, get personal dedications at book signings and hear stories straight from the shows (plus their killer dance tips) in intimate Q&A sessions. Sounds like a great chance to get up close and personal with the dancers. Again, there are a number of sailings, but it looks like they start in April and go through June. (Sigh) you had me at glitterball. You’ll want to check P&O’s site for specific details. Okay, not surprised by these themed cruises yet? Fine, fine, this next one may get you. It’s called the Walker Stalker Cruise. Are you ready to say “No waaaay” yet? Yes, it’s a Walking Dead themed cruise. If you are a fan of the Smash hit “The Walking Dead” then this cruise may be right up your alley. This one comes from Norwegian. Fans get to hop aboard the Norwegian Pearl in Miami and hang out with stars from the show. Norwegian invites you to immerse yourself in a 3 day floating convention with your zombie family. There’ll be panels, activities, photo ops, autographs, cosplay contests, and live music. Of course, there will no doubt be lots of merchandise. If this interests you, you need to act fast. It sails Feb 3 – 6, 2017. If that one didn’t surprise you, maybe this one will get you. Are you ready? It’s a cruise for people who love cats! That’s right, cat lovers can board the Carnival Victory and mingle with other cat lovers. I save this one for last because it’s one of my favorites. You may not know this, but I love to dance. It’s true, I do, and I love Zumba. For me it’s the perfect exercise. It’s so fun, and that’s why this themed cruise from Royal Caribbean really appeals to me. Zumba lover’s like me can expect classes, parties and seminars under beautiful blue skies as they sail the Caribbean. It looks like this is onboard the Navigator of the Seas, and so far I only see the one sailing 04/23/2017 - 04/28/2017. Oh, sounds so fun. Okie dokie, well that’s it for this episode.
