Anchorage, Alaska surprised us β and it turned out to be the perfect way to begin our Alaska cruise adventure. πΊπΈ In this Anchorage Alaska travel guide, weβre sharing exactly what to see, eat, and do in Anchorage before heading out on our cruise. From culture and history to iconic local food and unexpected discoveries, this video is packed with first-time Anchorage experiences you wonβt want to miss. We start our day at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, where we learned about Alaska Native cultures through powerful demonstrations of traditional sports, music, and dance. Exploring the outdoor village, historic structures, totem poles, and learning about native traditions made this one of the most meaningful stops of our trip. Next, we visit the Anchorage Museum, where art, history, and creativity come together. From interactive exhibits and marine life to playful installations (including a pink polar bear doing ballet!) and powerful displays about the Great Alaska Earthquake, this museum completely exceeded our expectations. Of course, no visit to Anchorage would be complete without food. We grab lunch at the famous Mooseβs Tooth Pub & Pizzeria, one of the most popular restaurants in Alaska, known for creative pizzas and house-brewed beer. For dessert, we track down one of Alaskaβs most iconic treats at Wild Scoops, an Alaskan micro-creamery famous for its viral Baked Alaska cone β torched to order with a warm, gooey exterior and a cold, creamy center. As the rain rolls in, we head back to our hotel to wait for friends to arrive β because weβre not heading out on this cruise adventure alone! We end the day with dinner at Humpyβs Great Alaskan Alehouse, a longtime Anchorage favorite serving hearty Alaskan fare and local beers. With an early morning ahead, we call it a nightβ¦ because tomorrow, we head to Seward to board our Silversea Cruises Alaska cruise. If youβre planning a trip to Anchorage, cruising Alaska, or looking for the best things to do in Anchorage before a cruise, this video is for you! π Thanks so much for watching!
