The latest update from Lind Marine at Mare Island where the historic MV AURORA is being dismantled for scrap. Since our last update, the 70-year-old cruise ship has been stripped out and the cutting process has begun with the removal of her sleek mast and lifeboats. With special thanks to Captain Corey Abelove for capturing the ship during this process. The AURORA was built in Germany in 1955 as the WAPPEN VON HAMBURG and has sailed as the Greek cruise ship DELOS, the expedition cruise ship PACIFIC STAR and POLAR STAR, the luxury cruise ship XANADU and has had a varied post-cruising career as the EXPEX, FAITHFUL and AURORA.
