Bluebell Railway - 'GIANTS OF STEAM' 23/10/2010
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
The Bluebell Railway's 'Giants of Steam' gala held over the 22nd-24th October 2010 finally saw the planned appearance of the National Collection's SR N15-class 'King Arthur' 4-6-0 No.30777 "Sir Lamiel" (from the Great Central Railway) following the disappointment of its non-appearance at the 2009 event. Unfortunately, whilst "Sir Lamiel" was present, the other planned guest was not. Following the non-available new-build LNER A1-class 4-6-2 No.60163 "Tornado" for the '50th Anniversary' gala back in August, further disappointment hit the Bluebell when fellow GCR resident and National Collection BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70013 "Oliver Cromwell" was out of action due to firebox problems. Despite the non-available 'Brit', "Sir Lamiel" ran services alongside SR U-class 2-6-0 No.1638, LBSCR E4-class 0-6-2T No.B473 and SECR P-class 0-6-0T No.178 & C-class 0-6-0 No.592. In addition, LBSCR A1X-class 'Terrier' 0-6-0T No.55 "Stepney" was working Brake Van rides at Horsted Keynes whilst classmate No.672 "Fenchurch" worked shuttles from Kingscote to Imberhorne along the extension towards East Grinsted. This footage is from Saturday 23rd October 2010.
