Bluebell Railway 'GIANTS of STEAM' - 31/10/2015
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
The Bluebell Railway held its first 'GIANTS of STEAM' gala for the first time in five years over the weekend of October 31st & November 1st 2015. The reason for the event's absence was a lack of large resident locomotives in the Bluebell's Home Fleet. Two visiting locos were brought in for the event to run alongside three residents with one making its return to service following overhaul whilst one of the visitors was making its final runs before being withdrawn for overhaul. The line-up was as follows... - LNER A4-class 4-6-2 No.4464 "Bittern" (courtesy of Icons of Steam and making its last runs before withdrawal for overhaul). - SR V-class 'Schools' 4-4-0 No.925 "Cheltenham" (courtesy of the Mid-Hants Railway & the National Collection). - BR 'Standard 5'-class 4-6-0 No.73082 "Camelot" (returning to service following overhaul). - SR S15-class 4-6-0 No.847. - SR Q-class 0-6-0 No.30541. The gala was originally meant to feature BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70000 "Britannia" but the locomotive was sidelined at Southall resulting it being replaced by "Bittern".
