Brilliant Lady: The Sidewalk Tour and "Panama Mode" (4K)
YouTube Video Description↓
Modern cruise ships have adapted new layouts for their lifeboat decks. What used to be a space designed for the purpose of preparing and boarding the lifeboats evolved to become relaxing places to connect to the sea. On some ships the jogging track has been moved down to this area while on others it's developed into an entertainment space. Onboard Brilliant Lady the lifeboats sit at the ready for if needed. That occupies the majority of the length down either side of the ship, but in the middle on each side is an open space to sit and enjoy the seas and sun. The port side is located directly outside Lick Me Till...Ice Cream making it a great place to sit and have an ice cream cone. It also features a dedicated area with tables and chairs to enjoy some pizza from The Pizza Place. The very forward end of the deck connects either side with a generic looking passageway while the aft has been developed into The Dock, a Mediterranean style lounge serving food and drinks. In a change from her 3 sisters, Brilliant Lady features "Panama Mode" which enables the lifeboats to shift inward and sit on top of the deck where the passengers would normally be able to walk The Sidewalk. This allows the sides of the ship to be completely flat enabling her to sail the Panama Canal. In addition to the modified davits, this special mode also required the deck 8 balconies to be modified in order to enable the space to be available. This video was filmed between March 21st and April 6th 2026 while sailing on a Panama Canal: From Miami to Los Angeles Voyage.
