Beautiful vibrant friendly Cartagena. This was a port stop on our Marella cruise 'Pride of Panama'. We decided to do our own trip here and so glad we did. The biggest surprise was the wonderful port with so much to see due to the Eco Park. Lots of animals to spot and photograph so ensure you give yourself plenty of time to enjoy what it has to offer. At the exit from the Port you have the opportunity to order a taxi or to join an excursion. If you chose an excursion then do not accept first price, they will drop the price very quickly. We did hear some bad things about the excursion option. We asked in the queue and found another couple to share the taxi into Cartagena old town. The total cost was $20 for all of us one way. When dropped off we arranged time with driver and other couple to return. This worked perfectly. Cartagena is a colourful town with so much vibrancy. The people were friendly and way less pressure than in Havana. If you said no they would leave you alone. Cartagena is very pretty although we did feel that about 3hrs was sufficient to look around the old town. If you have any questions then please drop them in the comments below.
