About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionβ
High winds can cause cruise ports to be missed due to strong swells. During our recent summer 2023 Baltic cruise, our cruise ship, the Holland America Nieuw Statendam, could not dock safetly at Visby, Gotland Sweden. The ship was scheduled to be at the Kryssningskagen berth shuttle service to Almedalen. In the video you can also listen to captain's announcment about the cancelled port, plus an official explanation in writing about the missed port. For us, it was disappointing since we were looking forward to visiting Visby, a medieval walled town with lots of history that we haven't been to, not to mention the time spent planning activities for this port. Please leave a comment and let us know which cruise ports you missed due to high wind, and what time of the year it was. It would be interesting to see if there are certain ports that are missed frequently, and that perhaps cruise lines should either select alternative ports in future itineraries or make backup plans for a port that has a higher than normal rate of being missed. #shorts #cruise #cruiseship
