There are very few cocktails that work as a pick me up before a big night out more than an Espresso Martini. In this episode of Tastes Like Cruising we are blind taste testing six espresso Martinis, five pre-made from the supermarkets against one, hand-crafted version, based on a cruise ship recipe. We will be blind taste testing Waitrose No.1 Espresso Martini, Absolut Espresso Martini, Grind Espresso Martini, M&S Marksologist Espresso Martini and Lidl Sunrise Espresso Martini against Marks Handcrafted Espresso Martini based on Cunard Lines version. Will Linzi be able to pick the one that tastes most like cruising, and will it be the one actually based on a cruise recipe or not? And yes, Horace returns with a new haircut. Recipe for Markys Cunard-Inspired Espresso Martini Recipe If you want to recreate the cruise experience at home, follow this recipe: Ingredients: 2 oz Premium Vodka (e.g., Grey Goose or Absolut) 1 oz Fresh Espresso, freshly pulled and allowed to cool slightly 5 oz Coffee Liqueur (e.g., Mr Black or Kahlúa) 25 oz Simple Syrup (to taste) Ice cubes 3 Coffee beans (for garnish) Mr Black coffee liqueur Instructions: Prep: Chill a martini or coupe glass in the freezer. Shake: Add all liquid ingredients to a cocktail shaker, then fill it generously with ice. Aerate: Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. A hard shake is the secret to creating a thick, frothy crema. Strain: Double strain the mixture into your chilled glass using a cocktail strainer and a fine mesh strainer to catch any ice chips. Garnish: Float three coffee beans on top of the foam in a triangular pattern
