Exploring Palencia Spain on Our Own | Coffee, Churches & Plaza Mayor 🇪🇸

We had a walking tour in Palencia Spain planned for the evening… but things didn’t quite go the way we expected. After spending most of the day editing back at the hotel, we finally headed out in the afternoon to begin exploring Palencia Spain on our own. Our first stop was a local favorite — Pastelería Polo — where we grabbed a pastry and enjoyed some amazing Spanish coffee. But then we got the message… our Palencia walking tour had been canceled. So instead of calling it a night, we decided to keep going and create our own experience — discovering some of the best things to do in Palencia Spain just by wandering the city. As we made our way through the streets, we visited historic landmarks like Iglesia de San Pablo and Convento de San Pablo, learning more about Palencia Spain history and its connection to medieval Castile. We continued on to Iglesia de la Soledad, Iglesia de San Francisco, Convento de las Claras, and Iglesia de San Lázaro — each one adding another layer to this beautiful and often overlooked destination in northern Spain travel. Eventually, we arrived at Plaza Mayor Palencia, the heart of the city, where locals gather, relax, and enjoy daily life. From there, we stepped inside a local Carrefour to experience something we always love when traveling — seeing everyday life through a Spain travel vlog lens, from fresh produce to local foods. To wrap up the evening, we walked along Calle Mayor Palencia, the city’s main pedestrian street. Known for its long arcaded walkways supported by nearly 200 columns, it’s one of the most unique features you’ll see on a Palencia Spain travel guide and a perfect place to explore on foot. Even though our tour never happened, we discovered that sometimes the best walking tour Spain experiences are the ones you create yourself. Tomorrow, we’re heading north to San Sebastián Spain, one of the highlights of Spain travel. Located along the coast in the Basque Country, it’s famous for La Concha beach and is known around the world for its incredible food scene — especially its pintxos.
