Join us as we explore the beautiful city of Puntarenas, Costa Rica, on our day ashore from the Celebrity Summit. Docking at 7am, this was our first port on the Pacific side after passing through the Panama Canal, and we absolutely loved our time here. Quick History of Puntarenas: Puntarenas, meaning "Sand Point" in Spanish, has a rich history dating back to the early 16th century when Spanish explorers first arrived. It became a vital port in the 19th century, playing a crucial role in Costa Rica's coffee trade. Today, it’s a vibrant destination known for its beautiful beaches, delicious seafood, and warm, welcoming locals. Our Day in Puntarenas: Morning Beach Walk: We started our day with a refreshing beach walk, nearly reaching the end of Puntarenas. The beaches here are amazing and free, perfect for cooling off and soaking up the sun. Delicious Local Lunch: We then indulged in a fantastic lunch at The Bamboo Seafood Grill. The local cuisine was exceptional, making this a must-visit spot. Shopping and Exploring: After lunch, we did some light shopping around the port area, which is filled with shops, restaurants, and even a straw market. Back on Board: As the weather turned hot and rainy, we headed back to the Celebrity Summit. From our balcony, we watched the crew provide umbrellas for excursion guests amidst a downpour—another example of Celebrity Cruises' exceptional service. Evening Delight: We enjoyed another delicious meal at the specialty dining venue, Tuscan Grille, followed by a relaxing evening on deck, where we were treated to a spectacular lightning show.
