Fenghuang Ancient City, China | A Spectacular Cruise on the Tuojiang River

http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com The Tuojiang River is the life force of the local people in Fenghuang. Almost every tourist takes one of the boat rides down the river and I am no exception. The view of Fenghuang spread out on both banks and beyond is spectacular. Covered bridges, women washing their clothes along the embankment, fishermen, refuse collected by boat, and...the famous stilt houses of Fenghuang. Stilt houses are usually built besides a river or in steep mountain areas to make use of land that could be thought of as "unusable."
