About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionβ
Our cruise ship was delayed by fog while entering the Port of Galveston. We were on the Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas, and the the Carnival Dream was in the same situation as well. The ship was originally slated to dock at 7 AM but did not actually do so until a little past 11 AM. The captain and the cruise director first made the announcements at about 7:20 AM, and continued to update the guests of the situation throughout the morning. While the fog was thick, the Galveston port authority instructed ships be anchored in place several miles away, and it wasn't until about 10 AM that Enchantment of the Seas started her approach. If you want to hear what a cruise ship fog horn sounds like- we were able to capture quite a few horn blasts! We learned two things from the fog delay. One- self-assist disembarkation may be a very good idea if you can handle your luggage. Secondly- if you are cruising out of Galveston in the winter where fog delays are more likely, it maybe be wise to book afternoon flights out of Houston! This was from our mid-February 2020 cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas.
