I recently got back from visiting Geneva in Switzerland and my goodness, did I fall in love with this stunning Swiss city. It really was love at first sight and this video shows 13 excellent reasons why you must visit the stunning Swiss city of Geneva. Of course there are more than 13, but these are the real not to miss things when you're there. They include taking a cruise on Lake Geneva, which is bordered by the Swiss Alps, including Mont Blanc (visible on a good day). Lake Geneva is at the heart of the city and spouting out of it is the iconic Jet D'eau water fountain, which can be seen both from the cruise and from a 'mouette' ride - the mouettes are yellow water taxis which ferry locals from left bank to right and are an excellent way to explore the bay - and are also free to ride (as is all public transport) if you stay at a Genevan hotel. Other things not to miss include: visiting the old town; climbing its cathedral's tower for an exceptional view; chilling on the beach and swimming in the lake; chilling on Bains des Paquis - a bathing area very popular with locals. Taking a stroll on the right bank's promenade, through Perle du Lac park and the botanic gardens. The United Nations building is also worth a visit and, if you're the active type (like me!) then you might also like to join a guided vineyard bike tour (which includes a wine tasting) as well as to try paddle boarding yoga. Both are GREAT fun. It's not just the native wines which are good in Switzerland - so too is the cuisine and a sunset dinner at Restaurant de la Plage (after chilling on the 'plage' - which means beach) is also a wonderful thing to do. Oh, and if you've time, do visit the Town Hall - it's free to enter and has the most photogenic/instagram-worthy cloisters. Honestly, Geneva is one of the most beautiful places I've been to in a long time - go and you'll see what I mean! I stayed at the deluxe Beau Rivage hotel (check out my video on this) which is a treat in itself.
