--~-- With Hurricane Sally virtually stalled, Gulf Coast Readies For Major Flood Event. During the night, Hurricane Sally weakened slightly to a Category 1 storm. But, her forward movement is only at 2 MPH. The Florida Panhandle and the coasts for Alabama and Mississippi, are getting pounded with wind and heavy rain, a condition that may last through much of the day tomorrow. Rainfall could reach 20 inches with storm surge of up to 11 feet. While the forecasts call for Sally to turn north, it has been moving West Northwest, or loosely toward New Orleans. The 8AM update show a slight change to a Northwest direction. Heavy rains, wind, surge and flooding is still expected in the Big Easy, but not as much as yesterday.
