Koper in Slovenia 🇸🇮 is a hidden gem at the head of the Adriatic. Nestling in the gulf of Trieste this former Venetian Citadel was formerly an island just off the coast of what is now Slovenia. These days the land between the mainland and the island has been recialmed but there are plenty of remnants of the originl citadel. The cruise dock is so close to the medieval town its a short 400m walk right into the centre of town. Highlights incude the loggia, Praetorian Palace, the Da Ponte Fountain, the cathedral and the bell tower. All within easy walking distance and easy to cram into your time ashore. Thee is a small but lovely beach and the towns ambience is divine. It’great just to sit and enjoy a meal and some beer. This is some place.
