I discovered the best beach to visit in Nassau, Blue Island Lagoon, on the Carnival Mardi Gras on her first call ever to the port in the Bahamas. We begin the day on the pier in Nassau, Bahamas, the last port of call for the inaugural sailing of the Mardi Gras. I soon board a ferry to Blue Lagoon Island, some 30 minutes from the Nassau port on New Providence Island in the Bahamas. I was amazed when I got to this beautiful location - I had never been on an excursion in Nassau before. I spent a fun day at the VIP Beach Experience at Blue Lagoon Island, enjoying the free food and drinks, lounging by the ocean on the beach, and checking out the marine life which included dolphins, sting rays, and sharks! Once back to the Mardi Gras I enjoy dinner onboard the ship for the last night of the cruise. The Carnival Mardi Gras was the first ship to sail from Port Canaveral in over 15 months. The Mardi Gras is the brand new ship from Carnival Cruise Line, the first of its Excel Class of ships.
